Athletics at Shorecrest
The Shorecrest Chargers Athletics Mission is to educate student-athletes through competitive opportunities and the life lessons of commitment, self-discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork.
Participation in Chargers Athletics interscholastic teams starts in sixth grade. Nearly 70% of the Upper School student body participates in at least one sport.

The Chargers secured a 4-3 victory behind the arm of Madi Bidwell ‘29 who pitched a complete game four-hitter while striking out 17.
Offensively, the Varsity Softball team was led by Ella Misenhelder ‘29 with her two hits and RBI. Lauren Sas ‘29 delivered a clutch double and later came home to score on a safety squeeze single by Riley Jaquish ‘28. Jaquish also caused chaos on the bases as she swiped three bags and scored a run.

Way to go, boys!
Edward Sax ‘27 threw seven innings on the way to a shutout. The Chargers were the first to get on the board in the first when Kevlar Stross ‘27 singled, scoring one run.
“It was an all-around team effort,” said Coach Mychal Givens. Braden Stone ‘26 collected two hits for the Varsity Baseball squad. Stross ‘27 went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in.

The Varsity Girls Lacrosse team dominated in a home game against Angeline Academy of Innovation last night on Haskell Field 👏⚡️
“Big win last night and a huge step forward for this group. They played together, trusted the work, competed hard, and had fun doing it!” said Coach Ackerman. With so much pride, “we’re ready to build on this for the next game.”
On the Boys’ side, Coach Jonathan Laneau is looking forward to the progress the team can make throughout the season, he said 🥍

The Varsity Softball team got their first win of the season backed by a complete game performance by Paige Conroy ‘29 who struck out 10 batters while only giving up six hits and 2 runs 🥎
She also led the team offensively with a three-run home in the fifth inning. Lyla C. ‘31 picked her first career varsity hit, while also scoring a run and stealing one of the team’s three bases on the day 🔥👏

Both Varsity Lacrosse teams faced off against Clearwater Central Catholic this week.
Despite the losses, both coaches are focused on the growth that they hope to achieve over the course of the season.
It was “a tough one on the road after a long break,” said Coach Chris Ackerman, about the Varsity Girls’ match. “There’s a lot we can build from, and we’re looking forward to getting back to practice and improving before our next game.”

Here are some updates from the last week of tennis competition 🎾
Despite the loss for the girls, Layla T. ‘30 competed in a very close match against a senior who finished second at last year’s State Championship. Their final score was 7-9. Isabella Jank ‘27 continued her junior year win streak at singles and doubles.
“The Chargers did not have a full lineup because of testing, injuries, illness and travel plans,” said Coach Bob Davis. “The three varsity players who competed did an exceptional job and only lost the match by one point.”
